Ötza, Offshore (2025)
In six new chapters of fanfiction, Ötza searches for ancillary incomes, financial optimization strategies, and tax havens. This pursuit brings her to LARPing shifts in an open air museum of natural history in Santa Ana; to an insurrectionary, post-Marxist, post-situationist silent yoga retreat at the French–Italian border; to Litchfield women’s penitentiary; to a double date with the Bogdanoff twins; to the 2017 World Economic Forum in Davos; and finally, to court. These chronicles are further explored through an exhibition of artifacts and corresponding diagrams.
In an investigation into the natural-historical display as heterotopic space, objects are ruptured from unidirectional time and incorporated into a dominant narrative that—historically—naturalized worldviews of capital, progress, and conquest into hegemonic truth. Here, that narrative collapses into a destabilized, autofictional pluriverse—fragmented, inconsistent, and bound together Ötza's writing. Via projection, Ötza oversees the exhibition herself as museum security guard, becoming both subject and object of museological superintendence.
